Nick joined Kroon & Mitchell in 2018 as a Staff Accountant focused on Tax, Audit and Consulting projects for Small Business clients and 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. After meeting Phil at the weekly Rotary Club gathering, and getting to know Art and Amy, he knew Kroon & Mitchell was the right fit for him.
Nick’s past experience includes accounting roles with the US Treasury Department, McKinsey & Company and several nonprofit organizations in New York City and Washington, DC. He also worked as a “Silicon Alley” startup CFO, helping guide companies in the 3D Printing, Blockchain and High Frequency Trading technology industries towards successful exits.
Throughout his career, for entities both large and small, Nick has focused on streamlining and automating accounting and finance tasks. Be it a legacy family business or a brand-new startup, Nick is passionate about applying his experience to help entrepreneurs focus more on value creation and less on number crunching.
Nick loves getting out in the community. He has started or volunteered for over 20 different nonprofit organizations such as the NGO Information Sharing and Analysis Center (ISAC) and the Bushwick Food Cooperative. One of the major firm practice areas Nick hopes to grow is in helping launch new nonprofit organizations. He also enjoys Modern and Contemporary Art through community events like ArtPrize and the events inspired by it in downtown Grand Rapids.
Nick is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Michigan Association of CPAs, where he serves on the International Practice Task Force and Employee Benefits Task Force. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Social Science and earned his MBA at Grand Valley State University. He is a proud Rotarian, and is a member of various arts and nature organizations in West Michigan. He is also a Quickbooks Online Advanced ProAdvisor.
